China’s steel exports and imports declined in May

According to the data compiled by China's customs, In May China's steel product exports totaled 4.76 million t, decreasing by 10 thousand t month on month and by 3.64% year over year. While China's overall steel product exports came to 20.04 million t in Jan-May of this year, up 11.6% year on year.

On the other hand, China also imported 1.28 million t of the steel products in May, dropping by 90 thousand t month over month and by 5.88% year over year. While in January-May of this year, China's overall steel product imports amounted to 6.83 million t, down 1.9% year over year.

Besides China also imported 30 thousand t of the billet in May and the overall billet imports amounted to 0.25 million t for the first five month of this year, up 5.5% compared to the same period of last year and there were still no billet exports in May.

While China's coke exports came to 0.45 million t in May, increasing by 20 thousand t year on year and the year-to-date coke exports stood at 2.13 million t, raising by 153.7% year over year.

In addition China also imported 53.30 million t of the iron ore in May, rising by 0.42 million t month over month and by 2.7% year over year, meanwhile from January to May this year, China's overall iron ore imports totaled 283.25 million t, up 8.1% year over year.
